The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Frustration Regarding Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Reaction

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Changes

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
